What are the best ways of getting around?
Jane and Brier recommend planes, trains, and automobiles for major travel. For local travel, personal cars and rideshares will be your best options, though the bride and groom would not mind seeing you arrive at the wedding on a skateboard or unicycle.
Is there parking available at the wedding venue?
Yes! Parking will be around the back of the property and garden, behind the hedges. There will be signage to help you navigate the area when you arrive.
Will there be a service providing rides back to our homes and hotels?
The bride and groom will not be able to procure rides home, but several of their family members and friends will be designated drivers. Please ensure you have a safe way to get home after enjoying the festivities!
Are there blocks of rooms reserved at any hotels?
There are no room blocks reserved for this event, as most guests are local or will be staying with family. The bride and groom will be staying at the Fair Haven Inn in Albion, New York. There are rooms still available there if you would like to join. They also recommend:
• Park Ave Bed & Breakfast
• The Victorian Bed & Breakfast
• Best Western Brockport Inn & Suites
What is the dress code for the wedding?
Jane and Brier ask that you wear cocktail attire such as floor-, midi-, or cocktail-length dresses; dressy separates; jumpsuits; pantsuits; or light- to midweight suits with ties. Please refrain from wearing jeans or other casual wear, or clothing wherein white is the main color. The bride is being very difficult and wants to be the only one wearing all white for whatever reason.
With all that being said, it is most important to the couple that you are comfortable and confident in what you are wearing on their wedding day; please feel free to express yourself authentically.
Are there any colors or styles I should wear?
While it is certainly not required, some guests are electing to wear attire that coordinates with the wedding color palette. Please feel free to join in if you’d like! The colors are noted in the images below.
Will the wedding be indoors or outdoors?
Weather-permitting, the ceremony will take place outdoors in the garden. The cocktail hour and reception will be held in the nearby greenhouse. Early fall in western New York can be a wildcard for weather, so be sure to bring some layers just in case.
What is the terrain like?
The gardens are mostly grassy with a few dirt and gravel paths. The greenhouse has a densely-packed dirt and gravel floor. There will be carpets placed on the ground to enhance the space. Some areas may be uneven, so please take caution as you move around the property. If you enjoy wearing heels, you may want to bring a pair of flatter shoes just in case.
What time should I arrive for the ceremony?
Sara’s Garden & Nursery will begin receiving guests in the ceremony space at 2:30 PM. The ceremony will begin at 3:00 PM. Please do not enter the ceremony space if you arrive after the ceremony has commenced; you will be warmly welcomed to the event once the couple has tied the knot!
When I arrive, where should I go?
Weather-permitting, the ceremony will take place within the hedges around the back of the property. There will be signage to direct you from the parking area.
What is the plan in case of inclement weather?
If the weather does not allow for the ceremony to be held outside, the entire event will be held in the greenhouse.
Will there be a time gap between the wedding ceremony and reception?
After the ceremony, guests will gather to engage in a celebratory petal toss for the bride and groom. Cocktail hour will begin shortly thereafter in the greenhouse. Dinner, speeches, and dancing will take place soon after that. There will not be large gaps of time between events, but Jane and Brier appreciate your patience as the moments unfold throughout the day.
What are some cool places to eat, drink, and see while I am in town for the wedding?
There are plenty of Things to Do!
Will there be other events to attend during the week of the wedding?
There will be a welcome dinner two days before the wedding at The Playhouse // Swillburger in Downtown Rochester. For more information on the welcome dinner, please explore the next section.
Where and when is the welcome dinner?
Jane and Brier would love for you to join them on Wednesday, October 4th for a welcome dinner to greet you and all of their wonderful guests. It will take place at The Playhouse // Swillburger at 820 S Clinton Ave, Rochester, New York. Find your way by clicking here. They have reserved a private room in the space so everyone can enjoy dinner as a group.
Is there a rehearsal dinner?
The welcome dinner will also be serving as Jane and Brier’s rehearsal dinner. They have been practicing for dinner nightly for almost their entire lives, so they feel pretty confident in their skills.
When should I arrive?
Please arrive by 5 o’clock in the afternoon for dinner and games!
Where should I park?
There should be plenty of street parking at that time. If guests run into any issues, Brier will be happy to help anyone find a spot. It might be a good idea to carpool if possible.
How much are games?
Each game takes around 2–4 tokens per play. Tokens will be provided for everyone! If Jane and Brier got the math right, everyone should have enough to play at least 12–24 games each. Otherwise, tokens cost 25 cents each and there is a dispensing machine near the front of the restaurant.
What will be served at the welcome dinner?
Each guest will be able to individually order a sandwich (veggie- and kid-friendly options available), a side, and a non-alcoholic beverage. Alcoholic beverages will be available for you to purchase at the bar.
Where can I find Jane and Brier’s wedding registry?
Love is really all Jane and Brier need. That means your presence is the best present they could ever ask for. But the couple understands that some might really want to give something! If that's your love language, they have listed a few things that would add to their joy as they continue their journey together. For more information, please visit their Adventures & Aspirations page.
Where should we bring or send our wedding gift?
Jane and Brier want to emphasize again that they do not expect or need any gifts. Having you join them in celebration means the world to them. However, if you’ve read all of this and still feel inclined to honor them with a gift, there will be a card box and celebration table at the reception. If you cannot attend the wedding and would like to send your regards, kindly address mail to
Jane Ives & Brier Mitchell
59 Victor Lane
Hamlin, NY 14464
Where will wedding updates be posted?
Jane and Brier will post any updates on this website with a banner announcement. They will also be sure to specifically let everyone know via text or call if there are any major changes of which to be aware.
I have more questions about your wedding; who can I contact?
If it is any time before the few days preceding the wedding, please feel free to text or call either Jane or Brier with any of your questions. If it is very close to the big day, please direct your questions to Brier’s mother, Debra Mitchell, or Jane’s mother, Tobie Hewitt.
